Before you spend a Rename Card
- Your first rename is free. Test exotic styles there, not with a paid card.
- Guides disagree on the limit: most say 14 characters, some 16. The limit box defaults to 14; the game's counting method for stylized letters is undocumented, so both code-point and UTF-16 counts are shown.
- Several guides report the card is consumed even if the name is rejected. See the rumor write-up.
- Paste the name into the in-game field and check that every character renders before confirming.
Risk levels
- Safe single code points in the common Unicode range; render everywhere.
- Medium astral-plane letters (math bold, script, fraktur). Widely used in CODM, count as two UTF-16 units each; older devices may show boxes.
- Risky combining marks or emoji-style symbols. Doubles length and is rejected most often.
